Editing Your Visuals
You've generated your visuals, but something's not quite right. Maybe the headline needs to be bigger, the colors aren't quite on brand, or you want to try a different layout entirely.
This is where Canvora's edit feature comes in. Instead of starting over, you can refine any generated image by simply describing what you want changed.
How It Works
After generation completes, click on any visual to preview it. You'll see an Edit button that opens the editing panel.
From there, just type what you want to change:
- "Make the headline larger and bolder"
- "Change the background to a dark navy blue"
- "Move the logo to the bottom left"
- "Add more white space around the text"
Canvora understands natural language, so you don't need to know design terminology. Describe it like you would to a colleague.
What You Can Edit
Pretty much anything visual:
Text adjustments
- Size, weight, and positioning
- Font style changes
- Adding or removing text elements
- Line spacing and alignment
Colors and backgrounds
- Swap colors entirely
- Adjust saturation, brightness, contrast
- Change gradient directions
- Switch between light and dark themes
Layout changes
- Reposition elements
- Add or remove white space
- Change the overall composition
- Adjust margins and padding
Style shifts
- Make it more minimal or more bold
- Shift the overall mood (professional, playful, elegant)
- Add or remove decorative elements
Edit Examples That Work Well
Here are some prompts that get great results:
Quick Fixes
- "Make the text 20% larger"
- "Center the headline"
- "Remove the subtitle"
- "Add my logo to the top right"
Color Changes
- "Use warmer tones"
- "Switch to a dark theme with light text"
- "Make the accent color more vibrant"
- "Change the background to #1a1a2e"
Style Adjustments
- "Make this feel more premium and sophisticated"
- "Give it a cleaner, more minimal look"
- "Add more visual interest—it feels too plain"
- "Make it bolder and more attention-grabbing"
Layout Tweaks
- "Add more breathing room around the edges"
- "Stack the text vertically instead of horizontally"
- "Make the layout less cramped"
- "Put the key message front and center"
Using Reference Images
Sometimes it's easier to show than tell. You can upload a reference image to guide the edit:
- Click the reference image icon in the edit panel
- Upload an image that has the style, color scheme, or layout you're after
- Add a prompt like "Match the color palette of this image" or "Use a similar layout"
This is particularly useful when you have existing brand materials or a specific aesthetic in mind.
Edit History
Every edit you make is saved. You can:
- See your edit history - View all the changes you've made to an image
- Revert to any version - Go back to a previous edit if you preferred it
- Compare versions - Toggle between current and original to see the difference
This means you can experiment freely. Try something bold—if it doesn't work, you can always go back.
Tips for Better Edits
Be specific when you can. "Make the headline bigger" works, but "Make the headline 30% larger" is more predictable.
One thing at a time. Instead of "change the colors, make the text bigger, and move everything around," make one change, see the result, then make the next. This way you know exactly what worked.
Describe the outcome, not the process. "Make this feel more professional" often works better than prescribing exact changes, because Canvora can adjust multiple elements to achieve that effect.
Use comparison language. "More contrast," "less busy," "bolder than this," "more white space" all work well.
When to Edit vs. Regenerate
Edit when:
- The overall direction is right, but details need adjusting
- You want to iterate on a specific visual
- You've found a layout you like but want to refine it
Regenerate when:
- The visual is fundamentally off from what you need
- You want to try completely different formats
- You're exploring different creative directions
Editing uses fewer credits than regenerating, so it's also the more economical choice for refinements.
Common Edit Scenarios
"The text is hard to read"
Try: "Increase contrast between text and background" or "Add a subtle text shadow" or "Make the text bolder"
"It looks too generic"
Try: "Add more visual personality" or "Make it more distinctive and memorable" or reference your brand kit
"The layout feels off"
Try: "Improve the visual hierarchy" or "Make the main message more prominent" or "Balance the composition better"
"It's too busy"
Try: "Simplify this" or "Remove decorative elements" or "Make it cleaner and more minimal"
"It needs more energy"
Try: "Make it more dynamic" or "Add visual excitement" or "Use bolder colors and stronger contrast"
Ready to try it out? Generate some visuals and experiment with editing. The more you use it, the better you'll get at describing what you want.
