Importing from URLs
Have a published article, product page, or documentation online? Just paste the URL and let Canvora extract the content automatically.
How It Works
- Click New Generation
- Select the URL input tab
- Paste your webpage URL
- Canvora extracts the content
- Review and continue to generation
What Gets Extracted
When you import a URL, Canvora automatically identifies:
- Main content - The article body, excluding navigation and ads
- Headlines - Key section headers
- Statistics - Numbers and data points
- Quotes - Quotable phrases and callouts
- Key points - Main takeaways and bullet lists
- Images - Referenced images (optional use)
Supported Content Types
Landing Pages

Articles & Written Content
Works with any published written content—company updates, thought leadership, research summaries, and more.
Product Pages

Best Practices
Use Public URLs
The URL must be publicly accessible. Canvora cannot access:
- Password-protected pages
- Paywalled content
- Private/draft posts
- Localhost URLs
Clean URLs Work Best
Some URLs work better than others:
Works well:
https://yourblog.com/productivity-tipshttps://medium.com/@author/article-title
May have issues:
- URLs with excessive tracking parameters
- URLs requiring JavaScript to load content
- AMP or cached versions
Preview Before Generating
After importing, you'll see a preview of the extracted content. Review it to ensure:
- The main content was captured
- Important quotes are included
- Stats and numbers are accurate
You can edit the extracted content before generating.
URL Import vs Manual Entry
| Feature | URL Import | Manual Text |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Faster for published content | Better for unpublished content |
| Accuracy | Depends on page structure | Full control |
| Best for | Existing web content | New or custom content |
Troubleshooting
"Could not extract content"
This usually means:
- The page requires login
- Content loads via JavaScript
- URL is malformed
Solution: Copy and paste the text manually using Text Input.
"Content looks incomplete"
Some websites have complex structures that make extraction difficult.
Solution: Edit the extracted text to add missing content, or use manual input.
"Wrong content extracted"
The page may have multiple content areas.
Solution: Clear and edit to keep only the relevant content.
