Discord banner size (2026)
A server banner should be at least 960 × 540 pixels (16:9); Discord resizes a 1920 × 1080 upload automatically. It needs Server Boost Level 2, or Level 3 for an animated banner. A profile banner needs Nitro and at least 680 × 240 pixels, as a PNG, JPG or animated GIF under 10 MB.

Server banner: design around the name
Discord draws the server name across the top of the banner. That top 48 px strip is where busy images, logos and text clash with it, so keep it calm: sky, texture or a gradient. Put any artwork or text you want noticed in the lower part of the frame.
Animated banners
At Boost Level 3 a server banner can be animated. It plays for five seconds, then pauses until someone hovers over it, so make the first frame and the last frame both look finished.
Profile banners
A profile banner is a Nitro feature, at least 680 × 240 px. Your avatar sits over the lower edge of the banner, so keep the interesting part of the image clear of it.

What size is a Discord server banner?
At least 960 × 540 px in a 16:9 shape. A 1920 × 1080 upload works too; Discord resizes it automatically.
Why can't I see the option to add a server banner?
Server banners unlock at Server Boost Level 2 (7 boosts); animated banners need Level 3 (14 boosts). Discord Partner servers get them without boosts.
Why is my server name hard to read on the banner?
Discord shows the server name over the top of the banner. Keep the top 48 px simple, without logos or text, so the name stays readable.
What's the difference between a profile banner and a server banner?
A profile banner sits on your personal profile, needs Nitro and is at least 680 × 240 px. A server banner sits at the top of a server's channel list, needs Boost Level 2 and is at least 960 × 540 px.
Why is my server invite background rejected?
It must be exactly 1920 × 1080 px and a JPG or PNG. GIFs aren't accepted, and once uploaded it can't be edited, only replaced.
